Dear friends of the Nidderau refugee support group,
A few days ago we received a letter from a new Windecken resident. In it, Omar expressed his wish in these difficult times to give something back to the people who have helped him and his family so generously in Germany. Omar is a tailor by profession and offered to sew face masks for his fellow citizens in Nidderau. Here is an extract from his letter:
„I wish everyone in the world all the very best. God willing, this tragedy will soon end. I can make masks at home. There are many refugees who can help me, my wife, my daughters. We will work day and night to give something back to those great people who have opened their doors to us.”
These words touch our hearts and give us strength for our work with the refugees. Omar’s initiative led us to take action. In the last few days, we have received a lot of the necessary material such as rubber cord, bias tape and cotton fabric. Many thanks for this!
We also succeeded in finding other people who are now also sewing face masks. They are led by Mahmoud, who is also a tailor by profession and has been sewing around the clock for days. What he’s doing is phenomenal!
The first masks have now reached our helpers. The residents and staff in the collective accommodation have also been supplied with them.
We will gladly accept further donations as well as material for this purpose. Stay safe, everybody, and best wishes.
